MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Competing for a cause: kids and adults tested their log rolling skills Saturday afternoon on Lake Wingra.
The Annual Midwest Log Rolling Championships bring competitors together from across the region.
Money from the entry fees and outside donations will go to the Wisconsin chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
One of the log rollers tells NBC15 News she’s been rolling logs for close to a decade, and it takes a lot of practice.
"The things that we have to remember when we log roll is moving our feet up and down as fast as possible, rahter than running which is often something people don't see,” says Nyla Etahir.
Some competitors also plan to compete in the Lumberjack World Championships held in Hayward, Wisconsin this summer.
Along with log rolling, that competition will include other sports like axe throwing, sawing and chopping wood.
